Now sweets for the sweethearts:

Baked pears...with chocolate!

For a romantic, candle-lit dessert for two, you'll need:

Four ripe Bosc pears
Twelve squares of dark chocolate
8 teaspoons orange marmalade.

Cut off the bottom of the pears so they'll stand up, don't peel them, but cut the top third off and take out the seeds - scoop out a little hole.

Place the pears on a baking sheet and put in 3 squares of dark chocolate where the seeds were. Put the top back on.

Cook for 15 - 20 minutes.

Now, melt some bitter orange marmalade in a small pan and pour it over the baked pears...Yum!

Remember - mood is everything. Dim the lights, put soft music on, and light a scented candle. Men are sensitive to spicy notes and love warm colors. Put gold powder blush on your cheeks and collarbones. Scatter yellow flowers over the table, and maybe serve a nice Chardonnay with this dessert in tall wine glasses. Dip your fingers into the chocolate center of the pears and tease. Then let him lick the chocolate sauce off your lips just before a passionate kiss...

Captain Tagor sat in the front row. He crossed his booted legs and brushed an imaginary speck of dust from his impeccable jacket. He knew that while most of the people--and other creatures-in the room had their gaze riveted on Gladys, those that didn't, stared at him.

Captain Tagor, space pirate, had parked his space ship in the biggest docking area, left his crew to guard it, and strode into the already-packed auction area. He'd walked to the first row and pointed. "That seat," he'd said.

Its occupant, a surly, scruffy low-life had snarled at him. "It's already taken."

At a nod from Tagor, one of the F'or guards working the auction had lifted the scruffy occupant out of his seat and tossed him into the back row. Captain Tagor flipped the F'or giant a golden galak and had sat down in the now-vacant seat, front and center. He'd nodded politely to his neighbours, and then had turned his eyes back to the stage. Then, as now, Gladys Hawke stood, her hands pinned behind her back, her face a mask of indifference.

But indifferent as she might appear, the faint flush of color on her high cheekbones and the glitter in her emerald eyes belied her stress--Tagor knew how to pinpoint stress. His keen eyes picked out the muscles tensing in her calves, the way her shoulders stiffened. On her temple, a pulse beat wildly, belying her calm. And her nipples puckered and hardened with apprehension and at the contact with the cold air.
