Review for "What A Queen Wants" by Bella Andre in the anthology Crown Jewels with Kathrine Kingston and Mlyn Hurn: Now available at Ellora's Cave!
"Short, sweet and ever so sexy. WHAT A QUEEN WANTS is magnificently written. Elizabeth's duality is clearly shown; the reader knows she isn't really as cold-hearted as she appears. Gavin is a perfect compliment to her and brings out her sensuality and eroticism. A great read!"
—Sharyn McGinty for In the Library Reviews
Review for "Candy Store" by Bella Andre in the anthology Passionate Hearts with Mlyn Hurn and Doreen DeSalvo: Now available at Ellora's Cave!
"CANDY STORE is an absolutely amazing story. Delectable and rich, Callie and Tobey light up the pages with their passion. Every touch is filled with emotion and instinctively you know their relationship is more than just sex. It goes much deeper. Reviews for Shooting Stars by Bella Andre, a Time Travel Quickie: Now available at Ellora's Cave!
"SHOOTING STARS is one of the greatest time travel romances that I have read. The characters are highly sensual and in touch with their sexuality. The storyline is sweet and romantic and the sex scenes are steamy. What more could you ask for in forty six pages? Ms. Andre pens an out of this world novella that makes you want to wish on shooting stars and believe in true love, no matter what the cost..."
—Ansley Velarde for The Road to Romance
4 Stars!"Bella Andre definitely has a hit with SHOOTING STARS. I loved the whole concept of Christina and Christiania switching places in time and Jake and Marcus are so delicious. This short story really sizzles with scenes that will have you fanning yourself afterward. Bella Andre is an author I'll be reading more of."
—Susan Biliter for eCataRomance Reviews
"Sassy and erotic, SHOOTING STARS is a great time travel. Both Christina and Christiania knew what they wanted and once they had it weren't afraid to grab it and do whatever necessary to ensure they kept it. Ms. Andre adds a high level of suspense and tension in addition to the love and sensuality. This is one quickie you don't want to miss!"

"If you are seeking a hot, quick read, be sure to pick up SHOOTING STARS."
—Edith Morrison for Romance Reviews Today
4 Stars! "SHOOTING STARS is a great time travel story that'll set your heart on fire with love for these characters. This story held me glued to my chair keeping me engrossed with the entire mysterious and suspenseful plot. Ms. Andre created a story and characters that are well written with intense emotional depth. The love encounters were fabulous; they were spicy, romantic, and extremely erotic. SHOOTING STARS is one of those books a reader won't soon forget...a keeper check it out; I file this one under HOT!"

"The sex is really hot…If an intense yet quick time travel is what you are after then this is the perfect book for you."
—Angel Brewer for The Romance Studio
"SHOOTING STARS is another Ellora's Cave quickie and wonderfully written. Ms. Bella Andre not only tells a short, appealing tale of time travel she throws in some hot erotic sex scenes. I thoroughly enjoyed the quickie and suggest it to be put on everyone's to be read list. I look forward to reading more of her stories."
—Ruby for Fallen Angel Reviews
4 1/2 stars! "Ms. Andre brings her readers a hot and spicy short story with SHOOTING STARS. I thoroughly enjoyed this story."
— Vikky for A Romance Review
"Bella Andre's SHOOTING STARS, an Ellora's Cave quickie, is an amusing, hot, time travel tale. Marcus made me chuckle as he tries to figure out what happened to his docile bride to be for suddenly she is an aggressive, cursing woman! Jake's lover has gone from the adventuress he brought home, to a shrinking violet, who's acting like sex is new to her. Pick up SHOOTING STARS and read how these couples ultimately work things out."

New reviews for Healing Passion, a hot Medieval Romance by Katherine Kingston:

"PASSION SERIES 4: HEALING PASSION exemplifies Ms. Kingston’s skill as an erotic historical writer. This story is fantastic with its rich melding of erotic and historical elements… Ms Kingston’s depiction of this period and the added intrigue of the missing Baron are slowly revealed in a most sensual and fascinating manner that has the reader wondering how this story will unfold… This is the fourth installment in Ms. Kingston’s medieval series and I hope not her last. Since reading DARING PASSION I’ve become a fan of Ms. Kingston’s stories finding her style both satisfying and true to life as she weaves her magical and sensual tales of extraordinary men and women in times gone by. You’ll become engrossed with PASSION SERIES 4: HEALING PASSION, set in one of the most chivalrous, romantic and erotic times in history. This wonderful medieval story is a true gem and a definite keeper."
—Aggie Tsirikas for Just Erotic Romance Reviews
"Healing Passion does have some minor bondage and spanking scene which fit well with the plot. Ms Kingston does a wonderful job with these scenes. Sir Thomas defines chivalry in his dealing with the Lady Juliana. You will enjoy exploring their world."
—Elise for eCataRomance
"Katherine Kingston paints an accurate, vivid picture of life in medieval England. I not only enjoyed the great setting, but the emotionally charged characters as well. This is a perfect sit-by-the-pool summer read!"

New reviews for Strength In Numbers 2: Danger In Discovery by Rachel Bo:
Available now at Loose-id!
5 Stars! "Ms. Bo writes with such emotion and passion. I agonized with David, cried with Joy, and just wanted to hold Jason until all his hurt was healed. All through the book, there is the hint of something dark in David’s past; the reason he rejected both Joy and Jason. You travel through David’s journey of self-discovery. Can he finally shake off the shackles of the past and embrace this unusual life-style? Will he ever be able to show affection openly or will he always be embarrassed about his love for another man? This book touched me, and made me think. Ms. Bo, thank you for a poignant book that will always have a spot on my keeper shelf and definitely a place in my heart."
—Michelle Naumann for Just Erotic Romance Reviews

5 Hearts! “These ménage scenes are hot with a capital H! Jason, Joy and David are intelligent, interesting, caring adults who... have a chance for a deeply loving if unconventional relationship. It was refreshing to read a story where characters are not young and perfect yet are still sexy... (same gender sex) sensitively portrayed, integral to the story and without a doubt extremely arousing... well written, engaging and a wonderful story of how love can win against all odds. I really enjoyed it and can't wait for Rachel Bo's next book!”
—Patrice for The Romance Studio

Gillian’s Island, writing as Lani Aames

4 Unicorns! "It’s no small task to write very short erotic pieces without sacrificing emotion and plot and still call them ‘romance’. Lani Aames’ Gillian’s Island is proof that it can be done. Ms. Aames married some interesting elements together to provide a pleasing whole. ...Ms. Aames is skilled at crafting hot scenes and combining them with good emotional motivations. ... If you want a very quick read loaded with sex and some interesting twists, you’ll really enjoy Gillian’s Island."
—Mary for Enchanted In Romance

Eternal Passion, writing as Lani Aames

4 1/2 Stars! "Lani Aames has written a sinfully delicious novel of love, sex, danger, and suspense. Eternal Passion is also a story of how true love can save and triumph. Lusty Charms: Invictus, writing as Lani Aames

4 Stars! "Lani Aames uses deep emotions and dark passion in this short story is a very absorbing way. You are not sure what will come next and so keep reading until the end. Once done with this story, you will not be able to wait to read the next installment in their life."

Treva Harte

Here's what reviewers say about Every Good Boy Deserves Favor:

"Every Good Boy Deserves a Favor is the start of a promising serial. I enjoyed the characters, the story, the lovemaking, and the emerging plot(s). Mio and Ulrich were very good heroes, both were alternately passive partners and dominating partners. I loved that in them; it allowed the relationship between each couple, sexually and otherwise, to explore more dimensions than I usually see in short stories. In short, I really enjoyed this story and recommend it for someone looking for a serial that promises to be good and a little different."
—Tara Black for The Romance Studio Blue

"There is practically everything you could ask for in EVERY GOOD BOY DESERVES FAVOR. Action, romance, futuristic life, and a connection with women who live in a different time period, yet are so much like us. Read EVERY GOOD BOY DESERVES FAVOR and decide for yourself if life would be more interesting without men around."
—Carolyn Crisher for Romance Reviews Today

"EVERY GOOD BOY DESERVES FAVOR is a highly unusual tale. With a futuristic setting, interesting characters, and some spicy sex, it entices the reader."
—Ansley Velarde for The Road to Romance

"In this story, the author features three women characters upon whom the story centers. Trying to tell three stories at the same time is difficult, but Harte accomplishes it quite well. Each story is simple and separate, and yet entwines with the others to form a more complex story. This is a very interesting technique, and I enjoyed the result. The female characters are sympathetic and likeable, and the male characters are much more complex than the females think they are. The man/woman sex scenes are erotic, but not as explicit as some I have read. The only problem I had with this book is that it has a cliffhanger ending. I hope that the author has plans to make this the first book of a series, because I would really like to know what happens to Jewel and her friends."
—Jean for Fallen Angel Reviews

"I found the plot to be refreshing and the character development of each woman and man to be believable. ..Ms. Harte's second foray into this world will surely bring more adventures and challenges for the three couples and the women and men of this world."
—Jennifer Brooks for Karen Find Out About New Books and Coffee Time Romance

3. AUTHOR OF THE MONTH: J.C. Wilder
Interview by Samantha Winston

SAMANTHA WINSTON: This month is Halloween, and JC Wilder is the perfect writer for this spooky, mysterious month. JC's website is lovely, and if you're a fan of JC's work, you have to go check out the biographies page, where she lists her characters!

JC, you have several new releases—can you tell us about them? (I was thrilled when In Moonlight came out—Redemption has always been one of my favorite books of yours!)

J.C. WILDER: I'm so pleased you enjoyed Redemption, Sam. I do love that book too. I have quite a few new releases out in the past few months! I get tired just thinking about all that work. In Moonlight came out in late July and it is a Shadow Dweller title in the loosest sense. The hero Hawke) is Quinn's half brother from Redemption. The heroine is Esme Proctor and she is the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter in a long line of witches. Her entire goal in life is to avoid the arranged marriage that looms over her head and she tries to conjure up a lover to take her virginity and render her unmarriageable. Needless to say, things don't work out quite as she'd wanted.

My September release is "After the Rain" in Paradox III, an erotic duet with Rosemary Laurey. My hero is a cursed gargoyle who first appears in "Lady of Maragorn" in the Dream Quest anthology. The heroine, Li, is a half-elf, half-human who flees her village looking for a better life. She ends up taking a job as Keeper to the Evil Ones, a room filled with gargoyle statues and there she meets Nikolaz...

SAM: I can't wait for Things that go Bump in the Night IV comes out! It's the perfect Halloween book! What is your story about?

JC: "Shadow Hunter" kicks off my new series and it is an offshoot of the Shadow Dwellers. This series will delve into the struggles of the were-cats and the werewolves in the Shadow Dweller Realm. This book starts off with Rik, a retired Shadow Hunter who is forced out of retirement when trouble comes to New Orleans in the form of a vengeful werewolf. While working to set things to right, he meets the beautiful Charlene who turns his world upside down...

SAM: You have stand alone books, and books in a series—which do you prefer to write?

JC: Both have their appeal. Obviously I enjoy writing series titles as most of mine are in a series. I just love being able to go back and visit characters from a previous book. :)

SAM: You also write as Dominique Adair—is her style different from JC Wilder's?

JC: The writing style is pretty much the same but the Adair titles deal with sexual topics such as bondage. My Wilder titles are very sexy but they wouldn't broach quite such controversial sexual topics such as that.

SAM: You're a very prolific writer, what is your daily schedule like? Do you like deadlines, or do you dread them?

JC: My schedule is very flexible. I try to write at least three hours a day but sometimes that just doesn't happen. I write all around the clock, whenever the mood takes me and I'm lucky in that respect. As for deadlines, I like having them. It keeps me focused and hard at work. If I don't have a deadline then I have a tendency to screw around more often.

SAM: You say on your website that your passion is cooking—do you have any other hobbies? Tell us something about Dominique/JC that you haven't posted anywhere else! (some deep, dark, Halloween secret!)

JC: Well, probably the only thing I haven't mentioned elsewhere is that I love to drive. I like nothing more than a good road trip with my dog. Lately, I've spent a lot of time in Louisiana and seeing that I live in Ohio, that is quite a trip! I also love to take photographs—that is another secret passion of mine.

SAM: Thanks for answering my questions!

SEPTEMBER'S INTERVIEW: Samantha Winston
Interview by J.C. Wilder

J. C. WILDER: Happy Halloween and thank you for sitting down with me, Sam. Now how does a nice American girl find herself living in France?

SAMANTHA WINSTON: What can you say? I was seduced by a handsome Frenchman. I met my husband here, and stayed! I like living here. Europe is amazing and I love history, so you can imagine how much I enjoy traveling around here. Oh, and did I mention the chocolate?

JC: Did you say chocolate?? It's one of my favorite things in life. : And what inspires you to write?

SAM: Stories in my head, sort of like movies, that I have to write down. The characters take over and they insist I write their stories. I think writers will know what I mean, and readers will say "I knew writers were crazy!" Well, they're right - we are crazy -about writing that is!

JC: I understand that you have two pen names. What is the second one and why do you have two?

SAM: I write YA and mainstream fiction under my real name, Jennifer Macaire. I took a pen name to write my erotic romances because I didn't want children looking up my name and finding books not appropriate for their ages. I'm a mother, so I tend to want to protect children; adults can do as they please!

JC: How did you first discover romance novels? Was there one book that did `it' for you?

SAM: The first one I read was The Wolf and the Dove by Kathleen Woodiwiss. I was literally swept away. I love historical romances, but there are contemporary romances I adore as well. (Hard to pick favorites) But I'm not very fond of category romances, which is why I'm so glad to be writing for Changeling Press, Ellora's Cave, and Loose Id. These publishing houses let me explore a more creative, adventurous way of writing.

JC: I loved The Wolf and the Dove, too! Excellent read. What lures you to write spicy, sexy romance novels?

SAM: Most of my characters are earthy, adventurous people with rich, exciting love lives. Love is important in my life, so it is vital to my stories. I love to be able to explore physical relations. I like to write with lots of adjectives...LOL.

JC: Can you tell us about your current release?

SAM: My latest release was Time-Tracker, a novella from Loose Id. It is the sequel to Ice Man, and takes place in the far future. I had a lot of fun with the book, and Steele, the character, is one of my favorites. He's been hurt before, and he never, ever wants to commit himself to another woman. Yet he's a real softie at heart and when he hears his beloved 'teacher' android is slated for demolition, he's ready to do anything to save her.

JC: What do you have coming up next?

SAM: I have a novel coming out at Cerridwen Press, the new imprint of Ellora's Cave. It is sensual, not erotic, and is more of an adventure in the Caribbean! (Think a contemporary pirate story) It involves 'the Ranger', a famous racing yacht, Marine, a girl who's sworn off men, and Scott, the sexiest sailor to set foot on deck!

JC: Sounds yummy - I love pirate books. Is there anything else you'd like to tell the readers?

SAM: I hope you enjoy my books as much as I love writing them. Thank you for reading!

4. DECADENT DELIGHTS
by Rachel Bo

It's the season of All Hallow's Eve, and Ghouls and Gourds are all around. Here are some tasty ways to make use of this season's bounty! Who ever knew gourds could be so stimulating!

RACHEL'S NUTTY PUMPKIN BREAD

2/3 cup shortening
2 2/3 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 16-oz. can pumpkin
2/3 cup water
3 1/3 cups flour
2 tspn. baking soda
1 1/2 tspn. salt
1/2 tspn. baking powder
1 tspn. ground cinnamon
1 tspn. ground cloves
2/3 cup coarsely chopped pecans

1. Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease bottom only of two 9- inch loaf pans. (Try greasing your partner's loaf, as well - he'll love it!)

2. Mix shortening and sugar in a large bowl. Add eggs, pumpkin, and water.

3. With your partner's help, blend in dry ingredients.

4. Stir in nuts. (Then, stroke HIS nuts!)

5. Pour into pans and bake until a wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean (about 1 hour, 10 minutes). You and your partner can practice 'inserting' and 'withdrawing' while you're waiting!)

6. Cool slightly. Loosen sides of loaves from pans and remove from pans. Cool completely before slicing. Store in refrigerator for up to 10 days.

BAKED SQUASH

2 straight-necked yellow squash that resemble your
significant other's...ummm...'endowments'
salt
pepper
stick margarine
water

1. Wash the squash thoroughly with a vegetable brush. Comment frequently on how much the size and shape reminds you of your partner. Entice your partner by playing with each squash - letting your fingers glide over it's length, sudsing it's long neck with your hands...etc. (The more adventuresome among you might even be able to imagine ANOTHER way to experiment with these well-shaped gourds.)

2. Slice the squash lengthwise and place skin-down in a baking dish. Sprinkle the cut sides with salt and pepper. Add pats of margarine.

3. Pour a 1/4 inch layer of water into the dish. Cover and cook until tender - at 350 degrees, approximately 40 minutes.

4. While waiting, refresh his memory by 'washing' HIS gourd, mimicking the motions you used to prepare the squash.

5. When tender and juicy (the both of you, AND the squash!), remove dish from oven and serve immediately.

HOT TIP OF THE MONTH:

LADIES: We know every man likes to think he brings out the ANIMAL in us. This Halloween, SHOW him it's true!

REQUIREMENTS: Chocolate body paint and a black feather boa or strip of black fabric such as velvet. Optional - butt plug.

INSTRUCTIONS: Secretly prepare yourself: Using the chocolate body paint, apply leopard spots or tiger stripes to your entire naked body. Cover the tip of your nose and draw in whiskers. Place one end of the feather boa or strip of fabric between your buttocks (for those of you to whom this would not be offensive, tie one end of the 'tail' to the ring of a butt plug and place where appropriate).

If you worry about such things, be sure to place an old sheet or blanket on the bed to protect the bedclothes.

Now, seek out your partner and entice them with some 'catty' moves - try a seductive purr, wiggle that TAIL in front of him! Giving him a glimpse of the TIGER in you will bring out the LION in him, and trust me, you'll BOTH be roaring before the night is over!

GENTLEMEN: There's a reason why vampire stories are so popular. Vampires are the quintessential seducers - red roses, candlelit dinners, hypnotic eyes - they have a way of making a woman feel like she is the life-blood (grin) of their universe. Thrill your woman by giving her that same attention this Halloween!

REQUIREMENTS: Hair gel (or aloe vera gel for sunburns); fake vampire teeth (top AND bottom); a large, black cape; champagne or sparkling grape juice, candles, and one blood-red rose.

INSTRUCTIONS: Wear a clean, white shirt and dark pants. Use the gel to slick your hair back in a Dracula-type sweep. Dress up in the teeth and cape. On a bedside table, light a candle and have the champagne or grape juice on ice, with two wine glasses ready. Sneak up behind your partner and put your arms around her, enfolding her within the cape. Present her with the rose. When she turns to you, tell her that tonight, she is in your power. Take her hands in yours and back away, leading her slowly, never letting your eyes leave her face, to the candle-lit bedroom. Pour your drinks, and make seductive remarks while the two of you sip. "I can't wait to TASTE you." "You WILL be mine." "Once I have supped from your body, we can never be parted." (Okay, guys, these may sound corny to YOU, but women WANT to hear these things, and don't you FEEL that way, deep inside?) When you have finished drinking, tell her that you want to watch her undress. Speak to her with your eyes, guys, DRINKING in the sight of her body, telling her what you like about it, how the sight of her baring herself for you makes you CRAVE to taste her. When she is done, drape your cape across the bed and gently guide her down onto it. Undress slowly and deliberately, never taking your eyes off your partner. When ready, make love to her slowly, and USE those teeth - gently, but firmly, nibble the insides of her thighs, let her feel them lightly pricking her as you nuzzle her neck, capture the tips of her nipples between them. You won't be disappointed at the response. And who knows, maybe NEXT Halloween, she'll play French maid!

5. ENTICING EXCERPTS

Beverly Havlir

Taming Alex
Coming November 2004 from Ellora's Cave

She just grinned and took his glass, placing it on a nearby table along with hers. To his surprise, she pulled him out to the dance floor and went smoothly into his arms. After a moment's hesitation, he pulled her closer and gripped her hips as she swayed sinuously to the slow, jazzy music. It felt good to hold her. The soft brush of her body against his only whetted his appetite. Soon he was steeped in her scent and lost in the feel of her voluptuous curves. He boldly slid a hand over her rounded buttocks. No panty line. What the hell did she have on underneath?

Somehow they ended up in a secluded corner, hidden by a couple of huge potted plants. A soft hand came up to touch his face. "Kiss me."

He held her steady when she shifted closer to him. Unbelievable. In the middle of his mother's party, in a crowded ballroom, he was sporting a raging hard-on. What's worse, the little minx knew it. Her sexy pouting smile told him so.

"You're asking for trouble." None too gently, he put her from him and headed for the French doors. Once outside, he pulled air into his parched lungs. Seeking solitude, he stalked around the length of the swimming pool to a shadowed corner of the backyard. He jammed his hands deep into his pockets and surveyed the pale reflection of the moonlight on the tranquil water.

The cool evening quickly enveloped him in its embrace. The heady smell of late-blooming flowers was redolent in the thick night air. Perfect for seduction. If he was a superstitious man, he would think nature was conspiring to aid in his downfall.

A great shuddering breath squeezed from his lungs. He'd wanted Alex for years-but she was untouchable, forbidden. It was an implicit rule-don't sleep with your little sister's best friend. Tonight was different. Tonight he was feeling none of the usual reticence. Tonight he wanted to take. He was on the verge of falling headlong into her willing arms. I'm sick of walking around with a fucking hard-on.

"Are you afraid that once you kiss me you won't be able to stop?" Alex's soft voice floated into the silence, heavy with challenge. He'd been so lost in thought he hadn't even heard her approach.

He slowly turned to face her. "You're playing with fire."

She brushed against him, igniting the flames. "Play with me, Ethan. Let's burn together." She took his hand and placed it on her breast.

He cursed softly. He was no more able to stop himself from curving around the plump mound, than from brushing the turgid tip that pushed insistently against her silk dress. "Go, Alex."

She lifted her chin. "Why won't you admit you want me, too?"

"Take my advice. Leave me," he repeated in a strangled voice.

She stepped closer, trapping his hand between them. "You're a fraud, Ethan. How many times have I caught you looking at me when you thought I didn't notice? Just tonight you couldn't take your eyes off me."

He clenched his jaw tight and didn't answer.

Alex reached up and gave him an openmouthed kiss. He held himself rigid, but could only do it for a few seconds before he allowed his lips to soften against hers. The kiss was slow and full of heat. With her tongue, she skillfully drew him into an erotic dueling game that knocked him off his feet. He was dazed when it ended.

Her sweet breath fanned gently against his lips. "It's only fair to warn you. I don't give up easily." She turned and sashayed the few feet to the pool house. He followed her with his gaze as she opened the door and quietly shut it behind her. Moments later, lights came on in the bungalow and cast distorted shadows on the swimming pool.

His fists clenched. He couldn't go on like this much longer. He needed to take care of this simmering attraction between them. Simmering? It was a fucking furnace, ready to explode. She was one hell of a package, sexy as all get out and not afraid to show it.

His eyes locked on the closed door. What am I going to do with you, Alex? But deep down inside, he was afraid it was a foregone conclusion. He was a goner, ready to succumb and lose himself in her delicious body.

He froze as the door opened once again. The evening temperature instantly rose several degrees as she appeared on the threshold. One shapely leg was propped up on an antique chair. Ensnared, knowing he shouldn't, but unable to stop himself, he watched eagerly as she rolled down her thigh-high stocking. He greedily devoured every inch of skin she revealed. The other stocking followed the first.

He drew in a shaky breath. Any minute now, somebody was going to come out of the French doors and witness her little striptease. The words he was about to say stuck in his throat when she lowered her dress and pushed it down her hips. His tongue wedged to the roof of his mouth and he couldn't look away as she shimmied seductively out of it.

"The Last Candle" in the anthology Holiday Heat
Coming Soon from Ellora's Cave

Greg and Lindsey are spending the Christmas vacation in her apartment, getting to know each other. New twists on some old games help them get to know each other and explore their feelings about each other and the kinds of sexual adventures they each like.

After dinner, which included the candlelight and the good china again, he helped clean up and then proposed a game of Scrabble.

Lindsey agreed, but asked, "What's the twist on this one? There aren't any hands in Scrabble."

His grin set her heart on fire again. "No, but there are turns. We can create rounds. Say three turns each make a round?"

"Winner and loser based on total score for the three turns?"

He nodded.

"And...?"

He did a charming thing with a crooked eyebrow that almost made her throw herself on him again. "Winner of the round gets to ask the loser to do something."

"Is this related to strip Poker?" she asked.

"Could be. If that's what the participants want."

They settled on the couch again, with the Scrabble board between them. The second football game ended as they were setting up, so he switched the channel to the Weather Station and let it be background noise.

Lindsey was pretty good at Scrabble, but because she wanted to see what he had in mind, she deliberately fudged the first couple of words, settling for a pair of meager six-pointers when in one case, she could have gotten eleven.

His wry, slanting look in her direction suggested he recognized her sandbagging. Nonetheless, he didn't hesitate to take advantage of it, and won the round of three turns easily enough.

"Strip Scrabble sounds good to me," he said. "Take your sweater off."

He already knew she wore only the bra beneath it. She peeled the sweater up and over her head slowly, watching his face as she did so. His eyes lit with pleasure as her upper body was revealed to him.

Lindsey desperately wanted to win the next round. She'd been dying to see him shirtless since the minute she'd laid eyes on him. Unfortunately the fulfillment of the desire had to be delayed. He won the next round and demanded she remove her shoes, socks, and jeans.

Again she moved deliberately, storing his reactions in memory for later pleasure. His eyes gleamed with interest. A hungry, predatory expression sometimes flashed across his face as she slowly peeled the jeans down her legs and stepped out of them. Even under her rattier clothes she loved wearing silky, high-cut, lace-edged underwear.

She felt a bit self-conscious sitting down to a play a game in nothing but her bra and panties. Maybe it helped distract him a bit, but he lost the next round, and obligingly removed his shirt at her demand. He aped her movements, undoing the buttons slowly, tantalizing her with glimpses of flesh. It was worth the wait. He had a magnificent chest with smooth, firm skin, well-shaped, toned muscles and a nice dusting of hair on his pectorals. Broad, solid shoulders narrowed down to a slim waist. Definitely yummy.

Moonstoned
Coming approximately October 17 from Amber Quill Press

CHAPTER 1

The silver chain flashed as the necklace swayed in the cool autumn breeze. Riviera Owens shaded her eyes against the glare of the late afternoon sun and started across the grassy median of the flea market grounds. Piles of junk, mostly old automotive and motorcycle parts, filled the booth. The lone necklace was the only piece of jewelry she could see.

"Hey, Ria, where are you going? I need some help with these boxes."

Riviera stopped and glanced back at her friend and business partner, Lynn Porter. She looked at the necklace again, then called to Lynn, "I won't be long."

She hurried toward the booth before Lynn could object. Both of them knew she lost all sense of time when rifling through trash and treasures where a minute could easily turn into an hour. She went straight to the necklace. The chain glowed like real silver, and the polished stone was misty grey.

"Moonstone," said a male voice she recognized instantly, even though it had been five years since she last heard it.

Riviera's heart fluttered unsteadily, and her breath caught and held. The necklace became a blur, and the man sitting in front of the booth doorway came sharply into focus.

Erich Lambert.

She hadn't noticed him at all, not from across the midway or as she approached the booth. But he was seated in a lawn chair, his long jeans-clad legs propped up on a stack of boxes. An open book covered his lap.

Riviera wanted to be that book.

She blinked at him, wondering why she would think such a thing, and cleared her throat. "Erich."

He looked her over...slowly...from the top of her head to her waist, as much of her as he could see from where he sat. His gaze was like a warm, intimate caress and caused her skin to heat up.

Self-consciously, she brushed back strands of dark hair that had come loose from her ponytail and tugged her jean jacket together, although it was suddenly too hot. Not even the brisk October air could cool her off.

Erich smiled that wonderful smile she knew too well. It reached his eyes, adding sparkle to the golden brown. Stepping up to the wide wooden board that served as a counter, he leaned close to her.

"Riviera, how are you?"

He asked as if the last time he'd seen her had been mere weeks instead of years.

She took a deep breath and tried to steady her trembling hands. "I'm fine. How are you, Erich?"

"Good." He plucked the chain from a hook beneath the edge of the awning and held it out toward her.

"This is a moonstone. May I?"

She nodded, unable to speak again. The necklace had called to her across the midway, but Erich held her attention now. A quick rush of air scattered dried leaves along the gravel walkway in front of the booths and ruffled a fall of golden brown hair across his forehead. She squelched the urge to brush it back.

Erich slipped the chain over her head just as she brought her hands up to help. When they touched, a surge of raw energy shot between them and moved through Riviera.

"Sorry. Static electricity," Erich murmured and rubbed where he'd shocked her.

Dry autumn weather could cause it, but it had been more that that. Much more. She jerked free, but his large hands lingered longer against her skin than necessary. She remembered how his tapered fingers had touched every inch of her body, driving her wild with passion. With patience and tenderness he'd coaxed her to peaks of pleasure beyond anything she'd ever imagined possible. Now, more than her hands quivered with something other than nerves.

He pulled the ends of her ponytail free, the tips of his thumbs and fingers tracing the lines of her jaw and throat before letting them fall away. The stone dropped under the edge of her low-cut blouse, nestling warmly between her breasts.

His eyes followed the trail of the moonstone.

Riviera knew she should yank off the chain and throw it in his face or at least tell him where he could stick it. She did neither. Her nipples tightened to hard peaks and a thread of heat coiled in the pit of her belly.

She was as attracted to Erich Lambert now as she'd been eight years ago when she first met him and five years ago when she last saw him. Neither time nor circumstance had lessened her desire for him. At all.
